Florida Helps Trafficked Youth

In many states, trafficked youth are often treated in group homes. A great number of these facilities, however, never address individual trauma or the abuse associated with sexual exploitation. This is why the Florida Department of Children and Families is attempting to do things differently. Their program — designed by Dr. Kimberley McGrath — places youth in specialized, therapeutic foster homes with a one-child-per-home policy. Each foster parent in the program is trained to care for the child’s unique emotional needs, has access to a clinical team, and receives an in-home alarm system. The results of this program are incredible compared to the residential group model! Click here to read more!
